The National Tricone Plectrum is a rare find, sparking curiosity among enthusiasts. Usually found in the tenor configuration, it’s plectrum neck gives it the scale of a 5 string producing a unique, resonant sound. Despite its rarity, the Tricone Plectrum played a significant role in early 20th-century music. More recently it’s been played by John Gill, banjoist with the Turk Murphy group in San Francisco in the 1970’s, but has been seen from jazz clubs to honky-tonks, its distinct tone left an impression on listeners and musicians alike.Today, these instruments are prized possessions for collectors, offering a glimpse into the past and the creativity of their era.
