1949 Epiphone Emperor Concert w/OHSC Consignment
$14,999.00
-
Developed in conjunction with jazz guitarist, Johnny Smith, this is an extremely rare variant of the Epiphone Emperor built in New York. There are only five Emperor Concert models known to exist as documented by Dutch Archtop Guitar Museum.
This guitar was never a museum piece and shows the battle scars of a busy guitarist’s main workhorse from the 50’s through the 2000’s. In 1948, the Emperor Concert model was added to the Epiphone price list and was the most expensive model in the line at $460. Included is the original Geib hardshell case with Epiphone brand molded in the lining.
Also, the DeArmond Guitar Mike pickup is included and can be removed and re-installed without harm to the guitar.
The trapezoidal soundhole allows for the tone bars to be further apart which in theory would free up the top of the guitar to vibrate more.
